DHC Digital Half-Cell Meter

The Scribe Half Cell Meter comprises a digital millivoltmeter and robust silver/silver chloride half cell, for the evaluation of corrosion in concrete structures.  It has a built-in offset to read as a copper/copper sulphate cell would, for easy comparison with values in international standards.  The equipment is very simple to use and data can be downloaded into Microsoft Excel to produce effective contour maps (See left) illustrating areas of corrosion.  (We can send you a larger version of this and more information, just e-mail us!) The map shows a car-park deck where the car entry and parking spaces are clearly visible, as the cars have deposited de-icing salt over the concrete, causing corrosion of the reinforcement (corroding areas show red).  The equipment is also available as the CPM, which combines a data-logging version of the half-cell, with the C3M covermeter, making a very powerful combination for the evaluation of structures.  Email us for more information.

C3M Digital Covermeter

The C3M cover meter is designed for extreme ease of operation for the measurement of the depth of cover to steel reinforcement in concrete.  Also incorporated are bar   detection and bar sizing facilities plus a range of invaluable functions for use in reinforced concrete condition surveys and check measurements.   In its simplest setting, the instrument rapidly and accurately measures the depth of cover to reinforcement with values displayed in large black characters with LCD screen prompts to guide you through the functions
The C3M covermeter is a robust, reasonably priced covermeter, well able to match its competitors.  Again information can be input into Microsoft Excel to provide colour contour maps of cover to the structure.  Combining these with corrosion maps can be quite illuminating sometimes!  This is a must-have for all Engineers responsible for ensuring that cover requirements are actually met on site.  Email us for more information.

 

DRAM: Digital Resistivity Array Meter to assess Rate of Corrosion
The time at which corrosion of steel may commence and the rate at which it may proceed is dependent upon properties of the cement paste and the permeability of the concrete. Since the electrical conductivity of concrete is an electrolytic process which takes place by ionic movement in the aqueous pore solution of the cement matrix, it follows that a highly permeable concrete will have a high conductivity and low electrical resistance. Thus knowledge of the electrical resistance of a concrete can provide a measure of the possible rate of corrosion of steel embedded in it   The technique provides added information when used with half-cell potential methods and can avoid the pitfalls that can occur when assessing very damp structures, which can "fool" a half-cell!

The "SCRIBE" digital resistivity array meter (dram) is a 2-probe array instrument which provides rapid measurements of concrete resistivity. The test is simple to perform and requires only two 6.5mm diameter holes drilled to a depth of 8mm using the template and drill bit provided. Inject a small amount of conductive gel into each hole and insert the two probe array. Upon pressing the action button on the instrument the resistivity is immediately displayed. D-4PRA Digital 4-Probe Resistivity Array meter

The "SCRIBE” four-probe array resistivity meter (D-4PRA) is a 4 probe array instrument that provides rapid measurement of concrete resistivity. The set of four probes are fitted with superconductive foam tips to ensure full contact on irregular surfaces. Upon pressing the action button on the instrument the resistivity is immediately displayed.  Readings can be taken in less than a minute and thousands of readings can be taken on a single battery.  It is also available as the L-4PRA Logging Resistivity Meter.  The 8000 series Micro Covermeters have developed from the wish to use high powered, number-crunching, microprocessors to radically improve the accuracy and versatility of the Kolectric range.

The 8010 model is a direct descendant from the Micro Covermeter, the World’s first micro processor controlled device, and continues to use the probe technology developed for this unit which featured the deepest penetration of any Cover Meter then available, a remarkable 360 mm, and at which depth the British Standard, which states accuracy to +/- 5% is required, could still be matched for the larger bar diameters. A new feature is the on-board data logging facility, which, with an additional cable and software package, can be connected to a computer for additional manipulation and output to printer etc.

The 8020 model uses a newly designed probe believed to incorporate the most accurate depth and bar size determination routines available in the World market. This, combined with extremely good resolution of multiple bars, sets the unit apart from others and sets the benchmark for Covermeter surveying. The new K9 probe searches using a version of “pulse induction” techniques proved to give more accurate results in areas of bar congestion. When the instrument selects the bar size accurately then precise depths can be displayed. This technique also allows for the probe to discriminate between bars lying close by, and our tables will show how accurate the 8020 model is in practice.

This easy to use gauge quickly and accurately measures the depth of cover over reinforcement bars.

This gauge allows identification of the location, orientation, depth and diameter of rebar, and the potential for corrosion using Half Cell.
